I was on campus from 7 until about 5:45 today, so all I wanted to do was screw around on the internet tonight. Hence, you get yet another craptastic blog! I doubt you’re surprised. BUT…I’ll change it up a bit and give it to you in numbered parts, how about that?

- Here’s an awesome list of some of the vault backstories in Fallout 3. Vault 106 legit creeped me out when I went in there the first time.
- I was going through the old photos on my camera and I found this picture of a pinecone smoking a cigarette.

- The news is so snarky here. Prime Minister Stephen Harper was not planning on attending that Climate Change Summit held a week or so ago. A day or so after I was watching the news and the little ticker said something like, “President Obama spoke at the Climate Change Summit for all concerned Americans…and apparently had to for all concerned Canadians as well.” Also, this:

TWSB: Take Me Down Like I’m a Domino
More like TYSB (This Year’s Science Blog) since I haven’t posted one of these in forever.

In case you’re not the type to read the description below the video, a domino can knock over another domino that’s about 1.5 times the original domino’s size. The idea to try this came originally from scientist Lorne Whitehead in 1983.
In the video, they only use 13 dominoes. However, if they had kept making larger and larger ones, the 29th one in the tumble would have been about the size of the Empire State Building, the 62nd would be large enough to almost hit the moon (assuming, of course, that we could keep the earth’s gravity constant over all of these mega dominoes), and the 133rd would have the same length as the diameter of the Milky Way.
Reddit user Variance_on_Reddit (along with other nerdy Redditors) calculated that the time it would take these 133 dominoes to actually fall would be 11.67 quadrillion years due to friction (again, keeping “earth” conditions constant across all dominoes).
Pretty snazzy.

And if you’re wondering, apparently he did a podcast in which he stated that he works at a supermarket and all the food he uses is stuff that has expired and would have been thrown away anyway. Not sure if that’s actually true, but that’s the general consensus. I haven’t heard the podcast myself.

Yay for Netflix letting me re-live my childhood
I used to watch The Prince of Egypt at my dad’s house when I was younger (it came out in 1998). This was always my favorite scene.
I’m not religious, but I did go to Catholic elementary school (as most of you have probably read on here). I always thought the story of Moses was one of the most interesting components of the Bible, especially the “parting the Red Sea” part.
And at the very least, I think we can all agree that the animation and music here is ridiculously amazing.

Chernobyl
Wow, so I’ve never known all that much about the Chernobyl disaster that happened 28 years ago today, but I saw a mention of it on CNN this morning so I decided to look it up.
I found this really interesting documentary about it:
I probably know a lot less about the disaster than most people, but I think this documentary would be interesting to check out regardless of how familiar you are with this bit of history.
