I love baseball

This is fantastic.

Let’s Get ‘Em!

I’m on a Kelly kick.

“What’d you expect? Con-dams?

That “how long have you been standing there??” line at 5:11 runs through my head like every time I take a shower, hahaha.

2020

I think it’s easy to forget how things were in that first year of COVID, even though it hasn’t been that long since 2020.

Or has it?

Time has no meaning anymore.

It’s also easy to forget all the non-COVID stuff that happened that year, too.

And god, that hope at the end that came with the vaccine, remember that? We should have known that would have devolved into ridiculousness with all the anti-vaxx garbage.

Frontier

So I was pretty sure I’d mentioned this song on here somewhere at some point, but I searched my archives and found NOTHING, so I present to you The Avalanches’ “Frontier Psychiatrist.”

This song is a trip.

I first heard it in a Clock Crew Collab like 17 years ago:

Man, that brings back memories. Wanting to be a part of the Clock Crew was one of my main motivators for learning (or trying to learn) Flash.

r/place

So if you don’t know what r/place is, here’s some history and info. In 2017, this particular subreddit was home to an experiment that involved a blank online canvas, a limited color palette, and collaboration. Basically, registered users had the ability to place a single colored pixel on the canvas (and had to wait a certain amount of time to place another). People coordinated with each other, fought each other for space on the canvas, and produced overall a very cool looking image by the end of the event.

Fast forward to now. It’s 2022 and there was a new version of r/place with a bigger canvas, more colors, and more collaboration.

ANYWAY.

The reason I’m mentioning this is because the r/ucalgary subreddit was all about trying to get the U of C logo on there. But in the process, they kept bringing up the Canadian flag and how NO ONE COULD DRAW THE MAPLE LEAF. And how Germany drew a perfect maple leaf on their flag just to show that they could do it.

Edit: Here’s a video showing the evolution of the Canadian flag and how terrible that leaf was. Like, oh my god, guys.

That’s hilarious.

Edit again: here’s a really cool video giving a much better description than I can and showing how the canvas evolved:

I love this kind of stuff. It’s so cool.

NEW WEEZER??? ? ?

So I’ve gotten into Weezer as of late, as their OK Computer album had STRINGS and their Van Weezer album had ROCK and I like a lot of their other songs too.

ANYWAY.

It sounds like their new project is called SZNZ. They’re going to release an EP for each season this year.

And since Spring just began on Sunday, their spring EP has released! Check it out here:

A Little Bit of Love is great. Angels on Vacation is good too.

Angels We Have Feared on High

We all need more nightmare fuel, and what better nightmare fuel than BIBLICAL HORRORZ

I love the take that ophanim are just fuckin’ wheels. That’s great. No better way to pimp your ride than with angel wheels.

Danny Pudi is fantastic

Hahaha, that smile he gives at 0:16 is so Abed, hahaha

THE UGLY ONE!

I had the strangest desire to re-watch all of the Teen Girl Squad episodes today.

Y’all remember Teen Girl Squad? Y’all remember Homestar Runner in general? Good times.

Anyway, here’s a playlist of TGS on YouTube.

The second one is my favorite.

“You must be girls.”

*I think I have a chance with this guy!*

And the cloud eating the birds.

Ah, 80’s Movies

Does anyone else remember this movie?

I watched this with my dad a lot, haha. Billy Crystal + Danny DeVito is a great pair.

Also, Danny DeVito has been around FOREVER, hahaha.

I want carbs

Specifically, THESE carbs:

That looks so freaking good, haha.

Nummers

Enthusiasm is so important in teaching. That’s one reason why I really like this explanation of why the square root of two is irrational.

I also like how he explains the proofs. They’re simple, but they’re so simple that I think it’s easy to overlook them and their importance.

Yay irrational numbers!

MEEMEE

These are clever as hell.

They must have taken quite a while to make, too. I hope he sells copies some day; I’d totally buy a few!

I have nothing to say today…

…other than my shock and joy at this video still being up on YouTube.

I think about this every once and a while, mainly because that harmonizing part actually slaps and I’d love to hear the whole song performed on this toy.

Also, I love how the comments are with me on how much people just randomly think about this vid, haha.

Movie!

So Nate and I watched The Prince of Egypt tonight. I’d seen it many times before, but this was the first time he’d seen it. I hope he liked it, because I think it’s one of the most well-done animated movies out there. I like how it doesn’t shy away from showing the darker parts of the story; that’s what makes it so impactful.

The plagues scene terrified me as a kid, haha.

I love the way his dream is animated (about halfway through this clip). Again, not shying away from the darker parts.

And, of course, the stunning parting of the Red Sea:

Watch it if you haven’t before. It’s phenomenal.

*Kanye West voice* POOP!!! POOP!!!

This is both hilarious and kinda terrifying.

I feel like if I had been on this cruise I would have volunteered to help with the stinky stuff. ‘Cause I could deal with it a lot better than most could, haha.

(Also, title reference)

Oooooooooooh noooooooooo

So for WHATEVER THE HELL REASON, the phrase “oh no, Mr. Bill” arose from the depths of my cavernous memory this afternoon and so I of course had to see if the old Claymation (and I use that word very loosely) sketches were anywhere to be found on YouTube.

And of course they were.

There’s more, too.

I think my dad had a VHS tape will all the Mr. Bill shorts from SNL on it. I have very vivid memories of watching repeated Mr. Bills on his old TV in the condo.

FOAM

Man, this has some serious late aughts vibes.

The clothing, the way they talk, everything.

I dig their happiness, man.

ROCK YOU LIKE A HURRICANE…LAMP

This is incredibly interesting, yo.

I love this YouTube channel. So many different things explained so well!

Zowza

Wow. This is a beautiful, haunting cover of “Where is My Mind” by The Pixies. It sounds like a song that would play in the background as a character in a movie loses their mind or something.

Happy Malloween!

I’m obscenely busy (as usual), so enjoy some nostalgia.

“Sorry…must’ve got a toenail caught in my throat!”

“WHAT MORE DO THEY WANT??”

FaceTypeFace

Typography? Fonts? Motherfuckin’ Calibri?

Check it out!

(Remember my Calibri rants? That son of a bitch font just bugs me, man.)

I AM BORED AND SAD AND WHAT ELSE IS NEW

I don’t know if I’ve ever posted this on here before, but oh my god I needed some cheering up and this certainly helped tonight.

The “is this ASS-BESS-TOSS???” is great.

Coldplay!

So Coldplay streamed their concert on YouTube tonight and my wonderful husband put up with my “ZOMG COLDPLAY!!!!!!!1!” insanity and we watched it live.

So.
Good.

I love everything about Chris Martin’s voice and I love how much enthusiasm they all have.

Going to a Coldplay concert would be a dream, yo. I would lose my mind and probably cry the whole way through.

Old Tech, New Tech, But No Blue Tech

This is so freaking cool. I love how technology changes and progresses.
