I AM SPEED (AGAIN)

This is not a fast mile for most people, but it’s hella fast for me. I am a slow runner, haha. This was also like mile 10 of 16, so…

Chart

I love these types of graphs, yo:

Kansas City has hefty boys. Seattle does not.

It’s interesting how there are a few little clusters. I wonder if these stats relate to anything else (or will relate to any of the year-end stats).

Hard Mode

Another 24 (plus a little bit) today!

I can go this distance without needing any fuel or water, but I’m sure that’s going to change as it gets hotter. I’m going to need TONS of water once it gets hotter.

But for now, I can still motor through with nothing.

I don’t know if that’s good or bad, but it is what it is.

Quake?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Yo, look at how CRISP Quake looks on this new monitor:

That’s wild. I love it.

And yes, I’m playing an early 90s game on my new fancy compy. That’s how I roll.

TACTICAL GARMIN

Are you a spy?

Are you a sniper?

Do you want to pull an Ocean’s 11 but still want to be able to look at your wrist and see what time it is?

GARMIN HAS THE WATCH FOR YOU!

This thing is intense. Weather reports. A ton of navigation stuff and maps. A ballistics calculator. Golf. Green and white flashlights. Night vision. Stealth mode. Ways to save geo positions to find your way in future situations. Some doohickey to help you jump out of a plane without dying. A way to track something (someone?????) you’re hunting. A freaking kill switch in case you get caught and need to mind-erase the data from your Garmin.

ALL FOR THE LOW, LOW PRICE OF $1600!
(That actually doesn’t sound too bad for all you’re getting.)

I had no idea Garmin made such serious gear. Kinda dig it.

Running: The Ultimate Drug

Hahahaha, this is hilarious.

“CHOP THE LEG!”

Semester OVER!

WOOOOOO!

Time to be free for a few months (or like a month and a half) before I have to start doing stuff again.

Vroom.

TESTING MY FRENCH!

Let’s gooooooo!

I’d say that’s pretty good for only having one French class and using Duo for a bit less than a year.

Let’s keep improving!

Johannes Brahms?!?!?!?!

This is the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, oh my god.

“It’s good?!?!?!”

Current Mood:

I DON’T NEED FOOD OR WATER OR SLEEP I CAN WALK/RUN 100+ MILES PER WEEK ON PURE RAGE

Longest Run Update: 24 Miles!

We’re getting there.
WE’RE GETTING THERE!

Nostalgia Music

So Nate and I were discussing music that was super nostalgic to us the other day. Surprisingly, I didn’t really get too much into music until the end of high school (probably because CDs were way too expensive for me to ever buy and I didn’t have the incredibly enabling device that is the iPod just yet). But a lot of the albums I did buy are ones that hold a high level of nostalgia. Any time I hear a song on any of these albums, it brings me right back to the time in my life when I’d play said album on repeat on my little portable CD player.

Let’s recall a few, shall we?

Good Charlotte – The Young And The Hopeless
I bought this album at Hastings because I LOVED “Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous” and then realized I liked all the other songs on it as well. I played this a lot in my junior and senior years in high school, and probably a little bit before that as well. “Girls & Boys” is underrated for how good it is.

Black Eyed Peas – Monkey Business
Senior year of high school. I would start this CD EVERY TIME I drove to school in the morning. I lived close enough to the high school that it only ever got through “Don’t Phunk With My Heart,” haha, but that and “Pump It” immediately make me think of those early morning drives to school.

Ashlee Simpson – Autobiography
Another one I bought because I loved one of the songs after hearing it on the radio (“Pieces of Me”). This was mostly my first and second years of college, I think. “Better Off” is such a sweet song.

Weezer – Make Believe
The summer in between high school and college. I listened to this album SO MUCH, yo. I bought it for “Beverly Hills,” but “Perfect Situation” might be my favorite.

Green Day – American Idiot
Another one I listened to incessantly during that summer between high school and college. I also remember listening to “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” back when I was in my bike-riding phase, but that was a few years earlier, I think.

I AM SPEED

(NO I’M NOT)

But this is really fast for me. I know that’s sad, but whatevs, so is this ENTIRE BLOG.

OH JEEBUS, NEW RIVERDALE

The hot mess that is Riverdale has a new season that is, most likely, a hot mess.

Apparently the town gets transported back to the 1950s? I don’t even know.

But I guess if Cheryl can absorb everyone’s superpowers and then use her Phoenix power to BLOW UP A COMET, anything’s possible.

(Yes, that happened.)

Mes livres de français sont arrivés !

Yay!

One is (obviously) a French-English dictionary; the other is a book on conjugating French verbs.

Apprendre le français est agréable !

Trois Cents!

(LOL, “trois cents” rhymes with “croissants”)

I’ve hit 300 days on Duolingo learning French!

That’s pretty cool. I didn’t think I’d stick with it that long, but I’m glad I have! Now I just want to learn even more French, haha.

Let’s get PHYSICAL

And by “physical” I mean “a physical copy of War and Peace.”

It’s here and it’s enormous.

I can’t wait to finish it, but at the same time, I don’t want to finish it, because what the hell can follow this book?

Bro.

This is simultaneously obscene and one of the most impressive architectural things ever.

Do…do you get an in-house chef? What if you just want to live there alone? What if you just want to cook plain-ass spaghetti every night and then eat it in your underwear while watching Riverdale?

(Not that I do that ever.)

Can the chef watch Riverdale with you?

And it comes furnished, right? What if you want to use your own furniture? How hard is it to get all of that out of there and replace it with your Walmart spatulas and La-Z-Boy chair?

Excess like this is weird to me. Like, on one hand: why? But on the other hand: why not?

But also also: living in the most expensive house in the world is not something I’d ever want to be able to say. Think of all the other things you could do with that money.

But also also also: it is art, to an extent.

You still get bird poop on your windows, though. Money can’t buy poopless birds.

And that’s probably one of the weirdest sentences I’ve ever written.

I could be brown, I could be blue, I could be SCREECHING WITH RAGE

Today was ASS and I must cleanse my soul with a survey.

What was the most unsettling film you’ve seen?
“Earthlings.” I still have nightmares.

When was the last time you were snooping, and found something you wish you hadn’t?
MAN WE’RE NOT GOING THERE TODAY, OKAY? Evil Grandma is dead and must remain dead in my mind as well.

Which celebrity or band has the worst fan base?
Swifties can be…scary.

What are you interested in that most people aren’t?
The history of calculus.

If you were given a PhD degree, but had no more knowledge of the subject of the degree besides what you have now, what degree would you want to be given to you?
But…but I want the knowledge.

What smartphone feature would you actually be excited for a company to implement?
I’d like there to be some way for the facial recognition thingy to recognize you with a mask on. Or at least make it so that if it detects a mask, it automatically goes to the passcode option to unlock your phone.

What movie quotes do you use on a regular basis?
I don’t quote a lot of movies out loud, but phrases from Mystery Men pop into my head more frequently than you’d think they should.

Do you think that children born today will have better or worse lives than their parents?
Worse. We’ve murdered the planet and they’re going to get the brunt of it. It’s too bad people don’t realize that because they KEEP POOPING OUT KIDS

What’s the funniest joke you know by heart?
I can recite huge swaths of Brian Regan’s stand-up, so anything from him.

When was the last time you felt you had a new lease on life?
Maybe when I moved up here to Calgary?

What’s the funniest actual name you’ve heard of someone having?
Erik Erikson’s got to be up there.

Which charity or charitable cause is most deserving of money?
Any charity that deals with animals. Especially cats.

What was cool when you were young but isn’t cool now?
Everything from my childhood is cool now. Nostalgia bait is a thing, especially for my generation.

If you were a ghost and could possess people, what would you make them do?
Ew, I wouldn’t want to possess anyone.

What game have you spent the most hours playing?
Either Quake or Half Life. The Sims is up there, too.

What’s the most comfortable bed or chair you’ve ever been in?
Nate’s parents had this SUPER SOFT mattress on their bed in the basement of their old house. You’d lay on it and it would just envelope you.

What artist or band do you always recommend when someone asks for a music recommendation?
Coldplay!

If you could have an all-expenses paid trip to see any famous world monument, which monument would you choose?
I’d love to see the Parthenon. Does that count?

If animals could talk, which animal would be the most annoying?
HUMAN!

What’s the most addicted to a game you’ve ever been?
I was SUPER into modding The Sims back when I first started college. I would spend hours downloading new skins, textures, general game mods, etc. and then only play for like five minutes, haha.

What’s the coldest you’ve ever been?
There was that time I went walking in -22 weather (plus wind chill) and I got superficial frostbite on my nose. I had to go into the one open public bathroom and shiver for about half an hour before I felt like I could keep going.
Or that time I was so cold that I thought my toe fell off in my shoe due to frostbite and I didn’t know what to do other than keep going, as it wasn’t going to fall off any further, haha.
Maybe those were the same walk, I can’t remember.

Which protagonist from a book or movie would make the worst roommate?
Augie March.

Do you eat food that’s past its expiration date if it still smells and looks fine?
I try not to, seeing as I can’t smell, but I’m far less careful with expiration dates than said lack of smell would suggest.

What’s the most depressing meal you’ve eaten?
Probably my breakfasts during my time at UBC. I’d get a frozen Eggo waffle and put it in a baggie. By the time I got to campus it was mostly thawed and I’d just eat it then.

What’s the most interesting documentary you’ve ever watched?
Blackfish was interesting.

What was the last song you sang along to?
Peace of Mind!

Which of your vices or bad habits would be the hardest to give up?
We’re not going there today, either.
