Yo Nerds
I have nothing important today and this is hilarious, so here ya go.
Dottie
Interesting.
I always thought they were there to make the window defroster work better, haha.
Cardy…CD?
BRO so a few weeks ago – for whatever reason – I was reminded of an old game that I used to have on CD way back when I was like in third grade or something. I don’t remember the name of the CD, but it was basically just a bunch of different card games (war, crazy 8’s, hearts, etc.) that you could play against animated characters.
And today I was going through one of my old home movie tapes and there was a few seconds of me holding up a bunch of CD cases. One of them was the game I was thinking of!
It was called Wild Cards!

I REMEMBER THIS OH MY GOD
Edit: A walk-through!
The voices of those characters are etched in my head. Especially Jack saying “hit me!”
Carbs Aplenty
Yummers.
I hate how carbs have been vilified. Carbs are wonderful. They power your brain. They help you run. They’re TASTY.
What is with people and beverage containers?
Seriously. It’s a thing.
We laugh and roll our eyes, but if you’re from my generation, you can’t deny that a big portion of your coolness factor in high school was the color combo of your Nalgene bottle and cap and how utterly covered in stickers that thing was.
(I had no stickers on mine. I was not cool.)
Also, you know that if social media had been a thing back then, it would be exactly as bad as it is with the Stanleys.
Magnitude
Here is a wonderful demonstration of the exponential property of the Richter Scale.
I had no idea the scale technically went negative, so that’s pretty cool.
Ah, Hell With It
This won’t be the first time I’ve humiliated myself on this blog, and it certainly won’t be the last.
So let’s get to it!
Remember back in the summer when I was off the wall enthused by all those home movies that we finally got converted to digital form?
And remember how I posted like three of them and then you never heard about them again?
Yyyyyeahhhhhhhhhh, that’s ‘cause I got busy.
But I’m still working through them! So in the spirit of “better late than never,” here’s the next installment.
Back in the summer between fifth grade and sixth grade (I think?) I took my mom’s camcorder, a brand new blank tape, and filled said tape with a whole bunch of nonsense that I dubbed “The Fifth Grade Movie.”
It’s basically me being super hyperactive in my room and filming a bunch of shorts, improvised songs, commercials, and interviews.
A few notes:
- I am an only child. This whole video is proof of why I’m an only child.
- This is how an only child entertains themselves. A least in my case.
- I call everything “Tony” because this was during the time that I was obsessed with the “Hey Tony!” Frosted Flakes commercials. Don’t ask questions.
- This is not me acting for the camera. I was just like this. Ask my classmates.
- Yes, my room is very, very messy.
- I sure screeched a hell of a lot, didn’t I?
- My FREAKING HAIR
- I have no idea how my mom put up with me.
You are under no obligation to watch this. In fact, just skip it for sanity’s sake.
Boof
Grilled cheese!
Am I the only one who doesn’t like the crunchy cheese bits? Like…cheese is supposed to be soft and melty. I don’t want that texture interrupted by crusty bits. Ick.
But I’m weird.
Are jokes about voyeurism peek humor?
[You’re getting a lot of YouTube vids right now because I’m super busy, sorry]
ScrubDaddyOfficial means business.
Do not cut the Scrub Daddy in half, lest you be cut in half by ScrubDaddyOfficial.
Pride
Love flag design? Love the pride flags? Check this out:
This is super cool. I love the idea of a “shared visual language” to try to bring cohesion to the flag designs. Even just a consistent color palette, as some of the comments suggest, could be something to unite all the different flags.
Of course, the history behind the flags and the chosen colors still needs to be taken into account (and I know next to nothing about said history for most of the flags), but it’s still an interesting idea.
Edit: an updated vid!
Oh my GOD
THIS LOOKS SO GOOD
(Sorry, I just want ALL THE CARBS thanks to all the running, haha)
ZoDiAc
Accurate.
(Sorry, that’s all I’ve got for today. The end of the semester is busy.)
Pulse
This song still slaps EVEN WHEN IT’S SLOWED DOWN
I love how chill this is.
I want carbs.
I ALWAYS want carbs.
I’d blame the running, but I think I’ve always just wanted carbs, haha.
Anyway, have some carbs:
Also, this is the first time I’ve ever heard of blooming spices. Interesting.
Captain Macaroni and Dr. Cheese
I love these kinds of things, yo.
Haha, I like how everyone could identify the Kraft Mac & Cheese. It’s iconic, after all. I’m surprised that they didn’t rip on the Velveeta, too. Some of these options look really good!
Nostalgia!
We’re getting into temperatures where I need to bring my radio on my runs because my on-ear headphones keep my ears from freezing.
The radio station I listen to, C97.7, does a “90s at Nine” every day at 9 AM. This involves the playing of three songs that have something in common. Often it’s a word in the song title or a genre or an artist.
This morning, the theme was “Disney songs” and the first song up was “A Whole New World” from Aladdin.
I cannot express the MASSIVE nostalgia hit I took when that song started. I hadn’t heard it in so long and it instantly took me back to when my mom and I would watch Aladdin back when I was in elementary school and we lived in our old house in Troy.
It just…it felt good.
This Song Angers Me
There aren’t too many songs that I’ve come across that actively make me angry when I hear them. But this song makes me want to yeet my portable radio into the Bow.
Part of the reason I hate it is because it’s overplayed. But the main reason I hate it is because of that weird-ass inflection/accent that Sophie Simmons puts on some of the words.
(And no, I don’t care that she’s Gene Simmons’ daughter, FIGHT ME.)
“I remember we were too broke to have a cuuaaar”
“Hitchhiking down the highway to get to the supermoaurket stouuuar”
“Buying beer with uuuoi-dees that don’t even look like ouuuys”
And that super airy “mine” just enrages me for some reason.
Yes, I’m being petty. No, I don’t care.
Ames Window
So here’s a cool optical illusion for you:
I feel like I’ve seen this before, but maybe not. I can get the pen illusion to break pretty easily, but maybe that’s because I’m super sleep deprived and my brain is being weird. What about you?
Frasier Collab
So as you’ve probably noticed from some of the posts on this blog, I love the idea of animation collabs (examples: this one from the Clock Crew, When I Was Done Dying, the “steamed hams” clip from The Simpsons).
I also love “Frasier.”
So I obviously really enjoyed this:
The voice acting is great, too.
They need to do more episodes, haha.
Wormed
I don’t know why DJ Earworm has just been dropping random mashups without any sort of announcement, but I’m here for it.
Nostalgia, anyone?
Also, there were a good number of songs in here that I didn’t know were 90s songs, haha.
Taste Test
I agree with some of the comments that the test is “too easy” given that they can still differentiate the foods due to texture/feel, but it’s still interesting to hear their commentary about how diminished the tasting part is.
“I can’t taste the flavor. Oh, it’s just bitter.”
YES. EXACTLY.
I really think this is why I have such a limited number of foods that I like and why I’m SO picky about texture. I don’t have as much to experience as others, so what I can experience is very impactful.
Interesting stuff.
This is the most FRUSTRATING SEMESTER
Which means seeing JerryRigEverything assess the durability of expensive electronics via scratching, bending, and burning is very satisfying.
Fairy
When I was a kid, my dad had several episodes of Rocky & Bullwinkle on VHS. I never watched any other episodes of the show except those on the tapes, but I remember I really enjoyed them.
One of the segments of the show was called “Fractured Fairy Tales,” which featured a humorous take on a classic fairy tale.
For some reason, the Rapunzel one always stuck with me. And now it’s on YouTube!
Rapunzel’s voice is super familiar. The cackling witch sounds is really familiar, too.
A Few Days Late But…
This is really interesting.
I know it’s been 20+ years, but I can still very distinctly remember how that morning unfolded and how all we did during that whole week in school was watch the news.
Chaosball
Yeah, this has been a pretty wild season for many reasons. This video sums it up very nicely.
I’m sure more insanity is to come.
