Back in Moscow
Hi fools, I’m back in Moscow for a week or so! Cruise was fun, albeit slightly stressful for several reasons. My internet connection’s having an identity crisis tonight so I can’t post this on DA, so I figure I’ll put it up for today’s post for whenever I get these up.
First drawing in a long time. Loooong time.
Thesis hangover.
Does bread experience social loafing?
HEY Y’ALL!
In the spirit of early New Year’s resolutions with longer completion dates, I have submitted my 101 in 1001 list here. This (still expanding) list will be my list of 101 goals I would like to complete in 1,001 days (starting on the 5th, ‘cause I’m obsessive like that). So I’ll have until September 2, 2013 to complete everything I list here.
Likely? Nope.
Fun to attempt? Yup.
It’s like 2 in the morning right now and I spent all day working on trying to clearly define noncentrality-based fit indices, so my brain’s not working to full capacity at the moment, hence the fact that I’ve only got about 17 things listed right now. But it shall grow.
Oh yeah, and a drawing:

People Get Poisoned. Distributions Get Poissoned.
I’ve been thinking about tattoo designs lately. I definitely want to do the Leibniz thing, but I don’t really have a good design for it yet. So I’ve been looking at all my old scribbles, and I think this
would be a pretty awesome tattoo. Just get it on my back, across my shoulder blades. Big and expensive as hell, but it’s rainbow and can be seen as either an infinity symbol or a mobius band of some sort (or both), so I dig it.
Using one of my own doodles also avoids the issue of my passions not being readily tattooable.
What do you think?

These will get more interesting soon, I promise.

A STATELY CHALLENGE
Holy crap, it’s a blog not posted at 1 AM!
So while I was doing research today (read: “as R was working hard running my code and I was just sitting there”), I decided to see if I could draw the US and all the continental states from memory. First I made a sketch to see if I could even get close, then I made an actual drawing with ink so you could see all my little screw ups (aka, the entire eastern seaboard).

Rough sketch = epic fail.
Apparently, in my mind, the Midwest is an even bigger expanse of nothing than it is in real life, the Great Lakes are a palm tree, West Virginia is a scribble, and New England is experiencing severe continental drift along the state border lines.
So I tried again, using just my rough sketch for reference, and I think this is substantially better:

The proportions (and some locations) really start to suck east of the Mississippi River, but at least I didn’t miss anything. Indiana and Ohio look crappy ‘cause I screwed up that general area and just went with it. The rest look crappy ‘cause I don’t know what they look like…in particular, I couldn’t for the life of me remember how the hell West Virginia is shaped, so I just kinda threw it on there where there was a gap in the states yet and called it good. Hahaha, Wisconsin is so deformed, but I got the Great Lakes right (edit: I also just realized I forgot to put the tail on the “g” so it looks like I wrote “Lake Michican.” You’d be surprised how often I forget to complete letters before moving on to the next one. Or maybe you wouldn’t, it is me, after all).
I’d try to draw Canada, but pfft. I know the names of the provinces and territories, I know where BC, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia are, but that’s about the extent of my Canadian geography knowledge.
I also have no idea when it was the last time I looked at a US map, Canadian map…or a map of anything aside from the bus routes, for that matter.
So there you go.
Conclusion: I like square states.
Run for your life, it’s a blog!
More artsy fartsy crap. I can’t decide if I like this one or not.
Also, this is freaking awesome. I loved the Xbox logo. And the Vaio logo, just because it’s Vaio.

[WITTY TITLE]
I need to make a remix. Or a mashup. Something. I have the urge.
Unrelated note: I forgot to post this yesterday in all the end of the month excitement.
It would have been way more detailed, but apparently the weather in the Midwest had different plans and decided to throw a thunderstorm tantrum for most of the flight.
Also, this is now one of my new favorite 5sf:
Haha, sorry these are so short. My body’s in “I hate you, Claudia” mode because of various reasons.

I used up all my colored pencils.
Like, literally…they’re unusable at their current length. All of them. Must buy more tomorrow. IN THE MEANTIME:
It’s a banana!
Yeah. Made in Flash. YES, I know it sucks, it’s the first time I’ve actually tried to “draw” digitally. The stick figures that appear in my animations do not count for obvious reasons, haha.
BLAH.
Today’s song: Une Chanson Pour Tout Dire by Eli et Papillon
“Do you make it to New Orleans?” “O-cajun-ally!”
This has been done for a few days, but I only got access to a scanner this afternoon.
Making Matt not look like an old man with the way his glasses were casting a shadow across his face = hard. This proved to me that I need to practice drawing non-LSD-type stuff. This is also the smallest drawing I’ve done in awhile (it’s about ¼ the size I usually do).
Anyway, I hope you like it, Matt! I’ve always been very bad at drawing lips, so I especially apologize for that part, haha.
Yay for drawing.

A request
Okay people.
So I have the strong urge to draw.
I really want to work on my portraits, but aside from buying Glamour and digging through it for good head shots (it’s pretty much what I’ve always done). So if any of you sillies would like a charcoal portrait drawn by me (I don’t suck too bad at portraits, I promise), let me know and pick out a good picture of yourself that I can use. It might go up on DeviantArt, but of course I’ll show it to you and ask your permission first.
Okay? Okay.

LSD!
Possibly fake…but awesome nonetheless. This motivates me to find my sketchpad. And some LSD.
Best parts:
“Patient tries to climb into activity box, and is generally agitated – responds slowly to the suggestion he might like to draw some more.”
“Upon completing the drawing the patient starts laughing, then becomes startled by something on the floor.” (This sounds like some of my friends drunk)
Everything in moderation. Including moderation.
Well people, I broke down and got a deviantArt account, mainly because I wanted a place for my art crap just in case Vaio decides to bite it any time soon.
Here ya go, please be nice.
The Count of Monte Carlo
Haha, um, yeah.
What would happen if large sample sizes were as desired as large…well, you know.
Yes, I realize I can’t draw. Deal with it.

So this morning I woke up and put on my new snazzy David Hume shirt. After playing Rock Band for a bit, I sat down at about 4:00 with the intent to do a quick sketch of Hume in Flash, just to check my skills how much I suck.
I just finished. It’s 9:30.
FRUIT OF MY LABORS:

Yes, I know the shirt and the wig suck (I forgot to shade a few places…shut up, it’s the first time I’ve drawn ANYTHING in a long while, especially in Flash). But look at that lace neckerchief…damn.

Now he’s glowing with the help of Photoshop.
Waiter! I JUST WANT SOUP, DAMMIT!
Bored. Drew crap in Flash. Supposed to be somewhat abstract. Deal with the crappiness.

Blog number 417: in which fruit is drawn
Hello again, fine people who read these! Being bored today I decided to give another shot at drawing in Flash. So here’s a strawberry for you! Took about 15 minutes.
