One of My Favorite Things…
…is curling up under my warm heavy blanket and watching about 15 minutes’ worth of TikTok vids before going to sleep.
And I know, I know…screentime before bed. I know. But let me be honest: there is nothing in this world that will affect my ability to fall asleep. I fall asleep in at most five minutes as soon as I lay down.
Hell, you could make me run a marathon before bed and I’d still fall asleep within five minutes.
(I know this because I’ve done it before, haha.)

RIP Reznor
So one of my favorite cats on TikTok unfortunately just passed away. He was a big orange polydactyl cat named Reznor. Even though he was obviously not my kitty, it’s always sad to see them go.
Edit: sounds like his mom is going to keep his account up so that she can still share old videos of him. Here he is if you want to see the sweet boy (and the other sweet cats she’s got).

I’m just curious, because currently there are a lot of videos going around on TikTok where this song is being used as the background sound and the video is just a slideshow of pictures of late 80s, 90s, early 2000s stuff.
I’m curious if the nostalgia trigger is the music itself or if it just triggers nostalgia because I associate it with those slideshows.

Because everything has been so horrible the past few months, I’ve turned to TikTok as a source of “I don’t wanna deal with life so let me watch short videos instead” coping mechanism.
Don’t make fun of me. I need something.
Anyway, there’s this audio that’s been going around on TikTok called “Into The Thick Of It!” I had no idea where it came from but it sounded intriguing, so I looked it up. Turns out it’s from an episode of a kid’s show called “The Backyardigans.”
The Backyardigans ran from 2004 to 2013, a timeframe that definitely missed my childhood years. So I don’t remember the show, but apparently it’s known for its songs and music. All of its episodes are on YouTube, so I decided to check out a few.
Now I’m addicted, haha. It’s lighthearted and adorable, which is really what I need right now. Also, the music and songs ARE really good. Austin (the kangaroo) has the cutest freaking voice.
So if you need a chill kid’s show for whatever reason, give it a watch!
