Halfway Mileage Update

It’s the end of the sixth month of the year, meaning it’s time for MORE MILEAGE STUFF!

Excited????

June mileage: 671.07

Monthly average mileage: 629.03

Current end mileage with this pace: 7548.3

AAAAAAAA IT’S ABOVE 7,500! Now I have to do it. I’m going to have to really push these next few summer months so that I can have some leeway when school starts and when the bad winter weather hits.

LET’S DO IT

May Mileage Wrap-Up

(This year is going fast as hell, isn’t it?)

The fifth month of the year is done, so let’s check out that mileage:

May mileage: 673.99

Monthly average mileage: 620.62

Current end mileage with this pace: 7447.44

THAT IS SO DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO 7,500 HNNNNNNNNGH

(Also…could I do 700 miles in a single month? Do I dare try?????)

Mileage n’ Migraine

Ahoy, butt-bombs! I had a migraine late last night, but I’m only including that info for my own reference; the main point of today’s blog is the fact that it’s the end of the month, so we’re tallying the monthly walking/running mileage to see if I’m still on pace for 7,000 miles for the year.

April mileage: 641.63

Monthly average mileage: 607.27

Current end mileage with this pace: 7287.24

That’s good! Gotta keep it up, though, or do better.

March Mileage Wrap-Up

March is DONE! Let’s mileage.

March mileage: 627.42

Monthly average mileage: 595.82

Current end mileage with this pace: 7149.84

Back above the goal of 7,000 miles! Let’s keep up this pace, huh?

Month 2: Mileage Check-In

February (at least in terms of my walking/running) is over! Let’s look at monthly stats.

February mileage: 541.37

Monthly average mileage: 580.02

Current end mileage with this pace: 6960.24

I figured this month would put me behind pace (if we’re going by monthly counts rather than daily counts) because 1) there were only 28 days this month versus the 31 from January and 2) I was stuck inside because of the weather for 20 days straight, which resulted no marathon distances and not many daily distances above 18 miles.

Let’s get back on track with March!

Month 1: Mileage Check-In

I’ve got a big mileage goal this year, so I think monthly check-ins are going to happen. Deal with it!

January mileage: 618.67

Monthly average mileage: 618.67

Current end mileage with this pace: 7,424.04

Um…woah. That’s a lot more than I thought it would be. I have to keep in mind, though, that this is a 31-day month.

(Don’t bump up the mileage goal to 7,500…don’t bump up the mileage goal to 7,500…don’t bump up the mileage goal to 7,500…)

MILEAGE CHECK-IN LET’S GOOOO

We are 1/24th of the way through the year, so let’s check that pace, shall we?

Total distance so far (counting today): 293.07

If I were to keep up this pace, I’d hit 7,033.68 miles by the end of the year.

That’s just a little bit more than my goal!

So I basically have to do that 23 more times, huh? BRING IT ON

Screw it: 7,000 miles

I’ve decided I’m going to do it.

I’m going to try for 7,000 walking/running miles this year.

It’s going to be a push, but I think I can do it. Last year I did 6,620, so this would be 380 more miles than that. So basically one more mile per day, plus a bit extra.

That doesn’t sound too bad, but I had a lot of high-mileage days last year. Like, my minimum daily distance was 6.07 miles; my maximum was 41.32.

[Insert five minutes of me dicking around in R making boxplots and such. Here is said boxplot of daily distance.]

My average daily distance for last year was just over 18 miles (18.09 to be a bit more exact). I need to bump that up to about 19.18. Again, not that much, but that’s an extra 1.1 miles every single day, and that’s also assuming I have either the same number of high distance days as last year or an equivalent (distance-wise) number of high-but-not-as-high “mid-distance” days this year.

BUT IT MUST BE DONE. A GOAL HAS BEEN SET.
VROOM.

Somewhat Mid-Year Mileage Update!

So I had to switch to a new pair of shoes today and it’s been a while since I’ve done a mileage update, so LET’S GO!

Not counting today, I’ve walked/run 4,264.57 miles so far this year. That’s approximately 150 miles more than I’d done by this time last year and almost 700 miles more than I’d done by this time in 2023.

The ultimate goal is still 10,000 kilometers (about 6,200 miles)…can I do it???

TEN THOUSAND

So as I’ve mentioned on here several times, my goal this year was to walk/run 10,000 kilometers, or 6,213.712 miles. I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do it, but all the marathon/ultra marathon training really boosted my mileage (as did bumping my daily minimum to 18 miles instead of 17…and bumping my weekly “off day” mileage minimum to 6 miles) and I was able to hit my goal today! I actually hit it during the first half mile of my marathon run this morning, so that’s pretty freaking cool.

And just to put some perspective on things, last year’s mileage of 5555.55 was the furthest I’d ever gone in a year before this year.

Now am I going to take the next two weeks off?

HA. NO.

Like everything else I do, I’m going to keep pushing it. I may not be able to get to the next biggest mileage marker of 6,500, but I should at least be able to add a few hundred onto what I’ve got so far.

Which is why I’m not doing any sort of big distance analysis today. I’ll save that for January 1st like I always do.

BUT WOOOOOO!

6×1000

Bros, I hit 6,000 walking/running miles today!

Remember back when 5,000 miles was my goal and how much work that was? Yeah, add another 1,000 miles on top of that.

Now I just need to do about 200 more to hit my ultimate goal of 10,000 kilometers for the year. And assuming I don’t die, I should be able to do that in the last month of the year!

Woo.

Mileage Update:

I have reached 5,000 miles for the year!

This is WAY earlier than I usually hit that mark, haha, and it means that 6,000 and even 6,200 are within reach by the end of the year.

Let’s blow it out of the water!

10,000

A’IGHT, BITCHES, GUESS WHAT?

(Aggressively typing because I’m excited)

I just finished a pair of shoes the other day, so I logged all the miles I’ve walked on that pair into my little spreadsheet that contains my yearly distances. Observe a piece of this:

My yearly total mileage right now (or at the end of this pair of shoes) is 3933.83.

If I want to hit 10,000 kilometers for the year (6213.712 miles), I’ll need to walk/run another 2279.885 miles in the remaining 137 days of the year.

That’s an average of 16.6415 miles a day OR an average of 116.4905 miles per week (since I don’t walk/run the same distance every day).

I’ve been averaging about 130 miles a week recently.

SO. If I’m able to keep up that pace (or even a little bit less) per week, I should hit my goal of walking/running 10,000 kilometers this year!

That makes me super happy, yo. I didn’t know if it would even be possible.

But now I HAVE to do it.
