Tweetball
Hello, peeps.
So the Metsโ season officially ended yesterday. SADNESS!
As Iโve mentioned, Twitter is basically my baseball info hub, and most of my liked Tweets are baseball-related (the rest are math/stats-related, walking-related, or PRIMO MEME CONTENT).
So as a little tribute to the end of the regular season, I present the Metsโ 2019 season in Tweet form! Enjoy.

Canadian League Baseball: Week 25 Summary
The (fake) baseball season (and the real one too, I guess) officially ended today! Here are the final standings going into the playoffs:

Here are the batting/pitching leaders:

WOO!
ALONSO SMASH!
Such a cool moment.
That is all.
Okay, time to root for the Braves
So the Mets officially got eliminated from playoff contention today.
SAD TIMES.
But we can still live for the chance that Alonso beats Judgeโs rookie home run record. Heโs so close!
Canadian League Baseball: Week 24 Summary
The Canadian League leaders have been determined! Still waiting on a few in the National League, though.

All the simulation pitchers are getting hurt, so itโs probably a good thing the season is almost over.
Canadian League Baseball: Week 23 Summary
PLAYOFFS APPROACHETH
TEAMS ARE GETTING ELIMINATED FROM CONTENTION
HEARTS ARE BEING BROKEN AS WE SPEAK
Ahem.

Also, Simulation Jose Reyes got his 2,000th hit.
Canadian League Baseball: Week 22 Summary
Weโre starting to see some teams eliminated from contention! Itโs sad. Poor Vancouver. Hamiltonโs killing it, though.

OH GOD FAKEBALL

That is all.
So As You All Can Probably Tell, I Really Like Baseball Now
The number of baseball-related posts has been increasing over the past few years, huh? If youโve known me from high school or college, you know Iโm not really into sportsball. Take the Vandal football games, for example. I really didnโt pay attention to the football at all because I didnโt care; I was just there for the marching band experience.
But baseball is different, and I figured Iโd take a few minutes to explain why (in case youโre wondering why the hell there are so many baseball posts when Iโd really never talked about sports before).
Letโs do it!
My mom used to watch the Braves a lot when I was a young kid (she liked their announcers). I donโt remember too much from my first few elementary school years (apart from coos and other miscellaneous nonsense that doesnโt matter), but it seems like my mom had baseball on every night during the season. I was too young to really understand it (or at least I didnโt seem to care enough to try to understand it past the basic premise), but the sound of a baseball game (and that freaking tomahawk chop chant the Braves fans do) triggers serious nostalgia for me.
Apart from my grandparents being obsessed with Mark McGwire during his steroid home run era and that one year that the Mariners were good, I never really watched much baseball after that. I didnโt know the teams, I didnโt follow who won the world series, I didnโt really even think about it much.
Fast forward a whole bunch to 2015. Nate and I started living together in June of that year. Heโd expressed that he liked baseball and I told him I liked it too (even though I was definitely not up on current baseball news/players/etc. and I definitely didnโt have the knowledge of the game that he had). So at some point he decided to get a subscription to MLB TV so that we could watch the Mets (his favorite team).
But it wasnโt really until the 2016 season where I really got into it. I started to know the game better (thanks mostly to Nate, haha). I started to know the players and become invested in them. I got more familiar with the teams, leagues, and the general competition.
Now I love it. I love all the stats. I love all the weird little things that can happen in a baseball game. I love how long the season is and how that means that there are so many opportunities for teams to hit winning or losing streaks. Iโve got, of course, my favorite players.
Plus, itโs something I enjoy watching and discussing with Nate. I can also watch and enjoy it while still having my music blasting on my headphones, so thatโs always a plus.
I donโt know. I just really like it. Itโs exciting to me.
(Apologies, though, to anyone who reads my blog who doesnโt like baseball, haha.)
Canadian League Baseball: Week 21 Summary
Weโre getting down to the end of the season!

There have been like seven squabbles this past week, haha. Lots of suspensions. But Simulation Robinson Cano got his 300th hit, so thatโs neato.
Canadian League Baseball: Week 20 Summary
More fakinโ with the baseball type stuff. WOO!

Canadian League Baseball: Week 19 Summary
Now weโre starting to see a little more separation.

Also, Simulation Cespedes is hurt again. KEEP HIM OFF THE RANCH
Canadian League Baseball: Week 18 Summary

Simulation Cespedesโ foot is broken, which is the pinnacle of this game being a fantastically realistic simulation of actual baseball action. Simulation Nimmo got Rookie of the Month for July, though, so thatโs cool!
Canadian League Baseball: Week 17 Summary
BALLINโ.

The Gold and the Blues are having a rough time of things. Too cold and too rainy, respectively, I guess.
Canadian League Baseball: Week 16 Summary
BASEBALLING UPDATE!!!!1!11one

Theyโre all still relatively close, given how deep we are into the season. Itโs probably because the talent is so equally spread out, as opposed to the freaking Yankees having everyone.
More Baseball, Sorry
So I bought Out of the Park 20 because it was on sale and now Iโm screwed because now I’m addicted to the baseball card game thatโs built into that version and oh god Iโm going to have to alternate between OOTP 18 for my Canadian simulation and OOTP 20 for cards and life is all baseball all the time and oh god
Canadian League Baseball: Week 15 Summary
Things are starting to separate a liiiiiittle bit more.

Simulation Scherzer is out for the season with a torn flexor tendon in his elbow and I am Simulation Sad.
Hey Now, Youโre an All Star
(Did I use that title last year?)
I love the All Star Game, yo. I donโt remember if Nate and I watched it the first few years we watched baseball together, but I know we watched it last year. This was after theyโd removed the rule that the winning league gets home field advantage in the World Series, which meant that the players could take things a little less seriously and make it more fun. They micโd up some of the players, which is what they did this year as well.
Itโs cool to see so many talented players all at once. Super fun! Hooray for McNeil, Alonso, and deGrom!
Canadian League Baseball: Week 14 Summary

Eventful week!
Simulation Curtis Granderson got his 300th home run.
Simulation Jake Arrieta and Simulation Rich Hill both pitched complete game shutouts.
The All-Star Game happened! The National League beat the Canadian League 5-3.
Canadian League Baseball: Week 13 Summary
I had seven consecutive sub-14-minute miles on my walk today.
I AM MADE OF SPEED
Here is baseball.

Hahaha, what the hell, Victoria?

And Simulation Cespedes is hurt. Because of course he is.
Canadian League Baseball: Week 12 Summary

Vroom! Calgaryโs still holding on.
Canadian League Baseball: Week 11 Summary
More fake ballinโ, yo.

The NL West has a tight race right now. Poor Expos, though, haha.
Canadian League Baseball: Week 10 Summary
Weโre ten weeks into the (fake) season! Hereโs whatโs what:

Simulation Adrian Gonzalez got his 2,000th hit, so thatโs kinda cool.
Simulation Matz is hurt, though, so thatโs not cool at all. ALL THE SIMULATED METS PLAYERS ARE HURT WHAT THE FREAKING CRAPPLES
Canadian League Baseball: Week 9 Summary
FAKEBALL IS HERE ON SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAYS!!!!
(Sorry, Iโm hyper)
Hereโs the standings after nine weeks:

Itโs going to be interesting to see if thereโs less separation between the team performances than there was in real life in 2017 due to the fact that the super talented players are more spread out across all the teams instead of with the teams with the most money. Weโll see!
Canadian League Baseball: Week 8 Summary
Here are the standings at week 8. Simulation Cespedes is hurt and Simulation Chase Utley hit for the cycle, so yโknow, thatโs great.
