Is it ART or is it TRASH?

It’s TRASH!

It’s a flower, but it doesn’t even look like one.

In my defense, though, neither does the actual flower itself:

I have no idea what kind of flower this thing is, but it gave me a good chance to try out my new metallic watercolor set. It’s hard to tell in the picture of the painting, though.

Are you ready for some BALLFOOT?

(This has nothing to do with ballfoot)

It’s another watercolor! I took some liberty with the colors on this one.

Caught in a Rad Bromance

The feels like is -29 degrees Fahrenheit right now.

Have a flower.

(I technically finished this on Saturday but who cares?)

A THIIIIIIIIING

This one was actually quite hard because it had more flat surface area to paint than my usual flowers do. Also that leaf at the bottom is ugly as all hell.

Are you sick of my garbage watercoloring yet?

TOO BAD!

This one was fun to paint.

Sweet Gerbera Daisy

Bing!

At least, I think that’s what this is. I’m not sure. I mostly painted it to practice with that center part. The last flower that had a funky center ended up looking awful. This is maaaaaaybe a little better.

(I’m going to run out of pink.)

Lots o’ Petals

I really tried to make this look more watercolor-y…if that makes any sense.

It’s an Art, You Fartbags

(You’re not fartbags, I’m sorry.)
(Or maybe you are. “Fartbags” is a term of endearment for some of us losers.)
(Anyway.)

I technically finished this yesterday, but yesterday was a super fun migraine party time, so yeah.

I think this is my favorite one so far.

MORE FLOWERS, EAT IT

This one took a long time, haha.

The end.

An Apple a Day Can’t Make Me Good at Watercoloring

But I’ll try anyway. This is my first non-flower in a while!

I freaking love watercoloring, yo

The pinks in my watercolor palette blend really nicely. This one turned out pretty good, considering, y’know, my lack of talent.

Paint Away!

Another watercolor! This one was hard; the watercolor palette I usually use doesn’t really have any true reds, so I had to use a different one. These colors blend soooo differently, haha.

How does one…color with water?

DON’T ASK ME
I DON’T KNOW

This took me like 15 hours because I am apparently incapable of letting a watercolor painting look like a watercolor painting and instead have to burn up half of my little color pans on a single page.

And yes, I know the leaves look very disconnected from the background branches/green and from the bench, but I kinda dig it that way, so I left it. It makes it look more surreal.

It doesn’t make it look good, but it makes it look surreal.

Whatev.

I did an ART!

This is like my first ever legitimate attempt at doing anything with watercolors. It looks more like a drawing than a watercolor painting because I layered like a millimeter of paint on there, haha. It took me three hours because I had no idea what I was doing.

What do y’all think?

My Weird-Ass Trudeau Dream

I’ve lived in Canada for over a decade in total now, so I’m OVERDUE when it comes to dreaming about the Prime Minister.

So here we go.

Me and a whole bunch of other people are hanging out in that ballroom on the second floor of the SUB at U of I (could there be a more random location for this? I think not). There’s some huge stage set up in the middle and it takes me a little bit of time before I realize that Justin Trudeau is just chilling in the room with us because he’s mostly been on the other side of the stage.

Then he grabs a microphone and announces that he wants to hold some sort of flash art contest in which participants will have about 15 minutes to make some sort of art related to a theme he gives us.

I have absolutely no inclination to participate in this, but my mom is there and she tells me she’s entered me into the contest so I have to make SOMETHING. I’m not too thrilled about this because I want to go home, but I comply and crap out some absolutely horrible piece of watercolor art in the last 30 seconds of the contest.

Trudeau goes around assessing all the artwork (there are like 100 people participating in this thing) and when he gets to mine he studies it for a minute and goes, “wow, that’s great! You go on to round two!”

And I’m like THERE’S A ROUND TWO?

Turns out that’s how the contest works. He picks his favorite [insert random number of] pieces and then those people go on to make another piece of art for another theme.

I still want to get this over with and go home, but as the contest goes on (and I keep moving on to the next rounds), I get really into it and want to make better and better art.

I’m in the 7th round and finishing a really good oil pastel drawing and I freaking wake up from the dream.

So did I win? WHO KNOWS! All I know is that Dream Trudeau really likes my Dream Art.

Weird.
